Overwish starts from a simple brief: rebuild Overwatch mechanics in one week, in October 2025. I programmed the whole game; my teammate built the scene. It is playable on itch.io.
Tracer
- Blink: three charges that regenerate, a short teleport in the direction of movement, cut short if an obstacle is in the way.
- Recall: the game continuously records the player’s position, orientation, health and ammunition over the last three seconds, then brings them back to the oldest state.
- Pulse Bomb: an ultimate that charges up, sticks to the first surface it hits and explodes with damage falling off over distance.
- Two instant-hit pistols whose damage drops with distance.
Cassidy
- Peacekeeper: six bullets, a precise shot and a secondary fire that empties the cylinder.
- Combat Roll: a dodge that reloads the weapon.
- Magnetic Grenade: it latches onto a nearby enemy before exploding.
- Deadeye: the ultimate. The game looks for enemies in a cone in front of the player, checks that they are visible, locks onto them, then builds up damage until the shot.
A shared base
Every ability inherits from one abstract class, which handles the cooldown or the ultimate charge, and every weapon from another, which handles ammunition, fire rate and reloading. Adding a hero means writing its abilities, not rebuilding the system.
Gunfeel
- A hit marker drawn in code, red on a headshot.
- Camera shake, weapon sway and a brief slow motion on every kill.
- Rebindable keys and an options menu (audio, controls, graphics).
